Through the Depths
Through the Depths is a fantastical tale of one mermaid’s adventures through darkness brought to life through this colourful, hand-drawn, wordless 45-page comic book.
If you share my opinion that it would have been far more interesting for the Little Mermaid to set off to explore uncharted waters and discover the many wonders of the sea instead of giving up her tail to walk on land, then this is the comic for you..
Story Summary
One day, our mermaid, Mer, hears about a great creature called a whale and decides it would be a grand adventure to meet one; however, unable to keep up with the much larger mammal, she finds herself lost. Trouble strikes, and she is pulled down into the darkest parts of the ocean.
Alone and injured, she manages to find a little light in the darkness in the form of a new friend, but will she be able to gather the strength to venture forth to see and experience this strange, new place?
‘Through the Depths’ is an original story that explores what it means to pick yourself back up again when things really don’t go as you’d hoped. The comic is wordless, using the colour and atmosphere of the ocean spaces throughout our mermaid’s journey to tell her story.
This is my debut comic and thank you to everyone who supported its printing through Kickstarter.
